Hello there! Welcome to my blog!
My name is Andrew, but I go by Andy. Growing up, I’ve lived the typical middle-class American lifestyle so far of attending grade school, then high school, then college. Only, while my friends had plans for post-college life like getting a certain job or going to grad school, I realized that I had no idea what the hell I wanted to do for the rest of my life.
While in college, I had a very hard time deciding what it was I wanted to major in. I didn’t like having to choose what to devote my life to at 17-21 years old, so I waited till the last possible second and ended up choosing Criminal Justice.
This indecision led me to pursue a career in the military. The military was very enticing because I’ve always enjoyed a challenge and I saw it as a way to discover what it really was I wanted to do for the rest of my life. For various reasons, I did not succeed in joining the military. Plan A was out the window.
Plan B was law enforcement. My ultimate goal was joining a federal law enforcement agency like the FBI, CIA, or NSA after my military career, but seeing as I no longer had the military career, I focused on getting a job in local law enforcement and working my way up from there. My Bachelor’s Degree was in Criminal Justice so I expected it to be somewhat easy to find a job. This was not the case and due to the previous injury and a new health problem, law enforcement quickly became a no-go. So much for Plan B.
Plan C for me is the IT industry. I have always been interested in computers and now I feel like I have the chance to really dive deep and get to know how they work and interact with each other. Now that I have taken a few courses and am on my way to an Associate’s Degree in Cybersecurity, I regret not beginning here in the first place. Transitioning into this field has been one of the most enjoyable and rewarding experiences of my life. That being said, I’m only just beginning and have no intention of stopping.
